Dependent on your eating goal for Intermittent Fasting, whether it be anywhere from 12 hours up to 18 hours if you’re not used to fasting for this long it might be tough on you.

That’s where this post comes in, to hopefully help eliminate hunger and make it to your desired length of fasting 12, 16, or even 18 hours. This is just to get you to your short intermittent fasting goals. This is not for long-term fasting, as I don’t have much experience with longer than 2 days.

The Three Gatekeepers You Must Get By

The three gatekeepers to a long fast are excess hunger, nausea, and irritability.

Get past them and you can meet your goal. It’s these gatekeepers that this webpage is all about skirting past.

Goodbye Breakfast…Goodbye

This can be a real hard one for some people but in order to get the maximum benefits of intermittent fasting skipping breakfast is a must.

Black Coffee Is Your Friend

Black coffee is going to help prolong your fast. It has zero calories plus it puts steam in your sails. Oh and let us not forget it taste amazing.

Coffee also suppresses hunger, a super important fact when fasting.

Obviously, no sweeteners, fats, or creamers, as stated above it needs to be black. Black coffee has zero calories. It really helps when experiencing hunger pains to drink a cup or two to get you over the hump.

If you’re looking for amazing coffee I highly recommend Black Rifle Coffee.

So make it a morning routine to prepare or purchase coffee to help you along with your fasting goals. Making your own coffee can be a real rewarding ritual and experience. You can make it as elaborate as you like or just mundane, it’s up to you.

Check out my Intermittent Fasting and Coffee page for more information on these two.

Tea Is Okay To

Certain teas can have appetite-suppressing effects as well. A few good ones are cinnamon or licorice herbal teas.

Also, keep in mind that almost all teas have zero calories.

Talk To Yourself

This technique might seem ridiculous to most people but let me assure you that this method works.

Here is my story and you be the judge. I wanted to do a two day fast, so the day before I was starting the fast I told myself what I was going to be doing. I was going to fast for two days. I said this to myself in my head with no words. I said this with intention and I meant it. I will not be eating for two days.

Do you know what happened?

This is what happened for two days, I had absolutely no hunger pains. Actually, it was the easiest fast I ever had. I was amazed by just talking to myself I had zero hunger pains. I was just blown away. Two days passed and I had made it to my goal.

Give this a try for yourself and see what happens. Just state your intended goal and see if it doesn’t get easier.

Stay Active

I routinely workout in a fasted state and I believe it helps burn fat and staying the course of I.F.

The worst thing would be sitting around the house watching TV and being bored. This is a recipe for failure, as TV commercials are designed to get you thinking about food.

So What Are Some Activities?

This activity (hobby) whatever it might be for yourself will keep you active and distract you from thinking of food.

  • Walking – The all-time best way to lose weight is to walk 45 minutes in a fasted state. Just fantastic!
  • Take up a hobby.
  • Exercise
  • Read a book.
  • Get a dog. Get one that matches your energy level for walks and play.
  • Start a garden.

Drink Water

For me, this is easy, as I am the biggest water drinker. I don’t feel good unless I drink a lot of water.
Check out my page How To Correctly Drink Water…Yep, You Read That Right. It’s filled with tips on drinking water.

Try to drink the cleanest water you can find, either filtered or distilled. If you don’t like drinking water check out my
