Tim Ferriss Current Portfolio Of Smart Drugs

Tim Ferriss is an amazing guy. If you don’t know about Tim, he is the best selling author of books such as The 4-Hour Workweek, The 4-Hour Body, and The 4-Hour Chef. Great books! Tim has been an amazing investor as well, having invested earlier in many well know startups like, Facebook, Twitter, Evernote. Also, Tim is into hacking the human body and mind. Where he describes himself as a human guinea pig for his investigations and experiments to self-improvement.

People want to know what smart drugs Tim Ferriss is taking because of his reputation. I have also written a couple of posts about Tim’s nightly routine for sleeping since Tim was an insomniac. This has many working tips to help you sleep, found here, Tim Ferriss Tips To Sleep / Best Ways To Fall Asleep and also Tim Ferriss Tips To Sleep / Best Ways To Fall Asleep.

Let us define what is a Smart Drug (also called nootropics), I will borrow from Wikipedia Nootropics (pronunciation: /n.əˈtrɒpks/ noh-ə-TROP-iks)—also called smart drugs or cognitive enhancers—are drugs, supplements, or other substances that improve cognitive function, particularly executive functions, memory, creativity, or motivation, in healthy individuals.[1][2]

What Is Mr. Hacker Taking?

Smart drugs or Nootropics can be as simple as drinking coffee or as complicated as taking multiple products. Coffee makes people feel more alert and awake and increasing mental cognition and everybody and relates to drinking coffee, as this is a good reference to a smart drug.

Smart Drugs are so very interesting to me, the ability to take a supplement and improve the best tool humans have in their brain. Come on think about it, if you could take a pill that improves an important aspect of just a couple of your mind various talents and use this to help you in your job or hobby/passion. Think of what you could accomplish? Faster? Better? Improving something even marginally can make all the difference in the world.

In athletics or even in the world of high tech, improving something in a fraction of a second is highly sought after. That will take you above your level of competition and reap the accolades, whether that is winning a race or having the fastest GPU.

A True Trailblazer

With his time and resources at his disposal, he has explored down many paths searching out what works and what doesn’t. For trailblazers like Tim, plowing a path down an unknown path helps other people to follow in his footsteps and benefits them without the work of trying hundreds of alternate routes. In Tim’s video, he shares with you what he currently uses to optimize his brainpower. I love people that break trail in unexplored areas, this helps save time and resources (money) for the followers.

What I have done is researched the products and itemized them, so if you want to descend down this rabbit hole you can more easily find the products Tim uses and follow him. An important note here is everybody has different body chemistry, as some products work for some people while for others there is no effect. So you might find benefits from using the products or you might not. Nothing is guaranteed.

I might add, that I have personally tried other nootropics and found many benefits from their use. I have written about them and suggest their use if you’re looking to get an edge. My articles can be found here, What Is Alpha Brain For? & MCT Oil Benefits And Side Effects. These two posts are about Alpha Brain and MCT Oil and I have found them both to boost my mental and focusing skills and can highly recommend their use. To summarize I have found my verbal skills vastly improved along with my writing skills much improved.

Exercise

Although not mentioned in the video, it should be noted that some form of exercise will also improve mental function. Maybe he did mention that, oh well. Having a properly running machine (your body) that is optimally in shape will perform better than one that is not. It only makes obvious sense. It doesn’t matter what type of exercise, running, walking, biking, lifting weights, boxing, jumping rope, or playing hopscotch. Just do something physical. Discipline yourself.

If you need some type of help with an exercise program, I have reviewed a few exercise programs, the one I highly recommend is anything from Kinobody. A great revolutionary program that works. Kinobody implements intermittent fasting with minimal weightlifting to achieve optimal physique. There are a total of 7 programs to choose from all are wonderful. To take a short quiz to see what is right for you, click Kinobody Quiz.  If you want to read more about it check out my review here, Is Kinobody A Scam?

I also reviewed Fat Loss Factor and Bodyweight Burn, which are also pretty decent and worth a look.

Ketosis

As mention in the video, Tim states that being in ketosis he feels 10x better mentally. Having better clarity and focus. So this process is definitely not to be missed.

For those that don’t know what Ketosis I will cite Wikipedia, “Ketosis is a metabolic state in which some of the body’s energy supply comes from ketone bodies in the blood, in contrast to a state of glycolysis in which blood glucose provides most of the energy.”

Basically, ketosis is being in a fasting state or a low carbohydrate diet (think Atkins). To be completely honest, I’ve heard about this but haven’t fully read up on it and I plan on researching and writing about this in a future post. I have written about intermittent fasting and I am fully convinced of the benefits of it. Here you can read my information on it, Intermittent Fasting Kinobody Style & Intermittent Fasting And Coffee.

  1. Hi,

Your article provides so much of an information n the drugs that can be used for one’s own health and fitness. This gives everyone a sense of awareness that these actually exist nd that they can be used in order to improve one’s self.

The products have been very suggestive as well such that anyone who wants to have it can actually have it because it is right here in this article.

    Thanks!

    • Thanks for the comment. I also feel that the drugs mentioned could benefit a lot of people. Tim seems like a real innovator as well. I love finding new products that might help me, so I love sharing them as well.

  2. Thanks for such a well researched post. I’ve never heard of Tim Ferriss but I feel that I could have benefited from his information and product back when I was a student. I’m curious about side effects, specifically if anxiety is a side effect? I know with too much caffeine it can increase my anxiety so I’m curious if these products would have a similar effect. Thanks!

    • No problem Joy. I noticed no side effects with the Four Sigmatic products or any of the other products, but keep in mind everyone has a different body chemistry. You might want to take it slow at first to see if there are any side effects then ramp it up when you don’t see any signs of side effects. Please let me know if you do experience any, as this might help other people.
